Keep Your Peace!

I am leaving you with a gift--peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid. John 14:27 NLT

Peace is an often neglected and ill-cherished gift from God.  Peace will keep you smiling when fires surround you and it will keep you calm, cool, and collected when you should be screaming.  Peace helps you to think rationally when you should be raising hell and it will protect you in the midst of frustration.  Peace is something so precious that we often don't give it it's due regard.  Once you have felt peace, you never want to let it go, but sadly, too often we have let our peace be stolen.

The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10).  One of the things he loves to steal is our peace!  Why?  A worried, over-analyzing, incessant thinking you is one he can attack.  A questioning, doubting, anxious, insecure you is one he can manipulate.  A fearful, frightened and hopeless you is one he can destroy.  A confused, cloudy, dazed you is one whose dreams he can kill and ultimately if you give up, one whose future he can abort.

You have the responsibility to keep your peace.  I assure you it's not always a cakewalk; it is definitely a fight at times.  It requires you to keep throwing the word of God back at that situation.  It requires you to rise up and walk in your authority.  It commands that you protect it at all costs, meaning destroying the fiery darts, arrows and missiles the enemy threw at you.  It mandates that you get in the presence of God and listen for that still, small voice to get a word for yourself.  It insists that you profess the truth over your mind and life and even sometimes dictates that you get by yourself in the midst of your storm and fall on your face in submission and surrender to God's plan.

Keeping your peace is essential to keeping the faith during the battle.  Because we know we have already overcome in Christ, it is easy to keep your peace -- IF you trust God, that is.  Be aware, be vigilant and remain alert because it's your responsibility to remember that God's peace is with you always and it is your inheritance!

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."  John 16:33
